CHALLENGE

A Comic Book Comes to Life

A hand crafted adventure, created to prepare player for the next expansion. I work on the animated illustrations to push the idea of educate player to who the characters are, some were created over 20 years ago. I wanted to answer the question why would the player feel like he want to engage this character and bring them justice.

Origin Stories

HOW WOMAN CAME TO RULE THE WOLD

World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment’s massively multiplayer online RPG, has been known throughout its 14 years for extensive storytelling. Cinematics and in-game storylines have kept millions paying its $15-a-month subscription fee. But throughout that history, the vast majority of leading characters have been male. No longer.

STORY

Epic & Intimate

NOT YOUR GIRL-NEXT-DOOR STORYLINES

Epic yet intimate, tells the inner story without words, dark. there’s been times where we actually hold back on it to make sure that it stays in the art style that has been well established for Warcraft over the years, the very painterly, very animated art style so it maintains consistency. Usually consistency is king, especially in a play space.

DESIGN

Consistency is King

A HAND CRAFTED ADVENTURE

In the space of six months, three leading ladies have taken the spotlight: Jaina Proudmoore, the Alliance mage who will act as the final boss of the upcoming Battle of Dazar’Alor raid dungeon; Sylvanas, the undead Warchief of the Horde; and Queen Azshara, leader of the serpentine naga and big-bad-in-the-shadows. Each got her own Warbringers short this summer leading up to the launch of the expansion. These are definitely not your girl-next-door storylines either.

A Big-Picture Game

LARGE STORY WITH SINGLE IMAGES

WoW ultimately is a big-picture game. It’s this massive concept narrative that moves ever forward. As the story goes forward, it’s really important that we just play it through the lenses of the characters that we have. What is their story? How do they interact? It’s more about the story itself than it is about any one individual in this grand narrative.
